Do you live in an older home that has peeling paint or old windows? The Winnnebago County Lead Grant Program might be able to help make repairs to your home, making it safer for your family.
What help is provided?
- An assessment of the property for potential lead hazards
- Lead-safe repairs, which may include new windows and doors, new siding, and other repairs
What is the cost?
- For homeowners: The program will pay 100% of the costs to fix the lead hazards.
- For landlords: The program will pay 85 to 100% of the costs to fix the lead hazards. If applicable, the landlord will be asked to contribute the remaining cost.
- For renters: There is no cost to you. Encourage your landlord to apply today!
Is my home eligible?
If you meet ALL of the eligibility criteria below, you should apply to the program!
- My home was built before 1978.
- My home has a child under 19 years of age or a pregnant female who is eligible for Medicaid or BadgerCare Plus living in it or visiting regularly (at least three hours a day on two or more days a week, and at least 60 hours per year).
- The property has no outstanding taxes due.
- The property is fully insured in the event of total loss.
