Paper Service
The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office serves all types of legal papers, including:
- Divorce papers
- Restraining orders
- Injunctions
- Writs
- Evictions
- Subpoenas
Important:
You must provide a valid address within Winnebago County for the defendant’s residence or workplace.
The Sheriff's Office cannot serve papers outside of Winnebago County.
Service Fees
- Fees vary depending on the type of service.
- Pre-payment is required for all service requests.
- If you have a court-issued fee waiver, attach a copy of the waiver with your service request—no fee will be charged.

How to Request Paper Service
Please print and complete the Paper Service Request Form and mail it along with all required documents to:

Include the following:
- Contact information for the person being served, including:
- Full name
- Address
- Phone number
- Date of birth
- Place of employment
- Two copies of the legal papers for each individual being served
- Payment or a copy of your court-approved fee waiver
- Your own name, address, and telephone number
After Service is Completed
You will receive:
- A Certificate of Service or Non-Service
- Documentation of all attempts made to serve the individual
