Dementia Care Specialist

The mission of the Dementia Care Specialist Program is to support people with dementia and their caregivers in order to ensure the highest quality of life possible while living at home. The Dementia Care Specialist provides free information and assistance to adults with memory or cognitive concerns, or who have been given a dementia diagnosis and to family members and friends who are caregivers. Fox Valley Memory Project

Fox Valley Memory Project is a collaborative non-profit organization operating and supporting programs and services that improve the quality of life for those experiencing dementia as well as their family, care partners, and friends. They encourage practices of hospitality and inclusion to foster a dementia-friendly community. Their no-cost Resource Navigators can answer your questions or connect you to other community resources. Lewy Body Dementia Association

The Association of Frontal Temporal Dementia

AFTD’s mission is to improve the quality of life of people affected by FTD and drive research to a cure. UCLA Caregiving Education

UCLA Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care program provides a series of videos to help caregivers understand how to better care for persons with dementia. Videos cover a range of topics such as aggressive language and behaviors, depression, home safety, repetitive questions, wandering, sleep disturbances and more. UW-Oshkosh Dementia Learning Center

This program offers a series of online and classroom-style dementia courses, originally developed for and approved by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. The curriculum is appropriate for a variety of learners from beginning to advanced levels. For details, click the link above. 

 

Virtual Dementia Tour

The Virtual Dementia Tour (VDT) is an, in-person experience that will increase your understanding and ability to care for your loved one experiencing dementia. This program is offered once a month at Park View Health Care Center and pre-registration is required. Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute

The Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute (WAI) is committed to helping people living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia, their caregivers, and the health professionals working to support them.
