The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office utilizes different hiring procedures for different positions within the agency.  Please be sure to carefully follow the steps for the specific position you are interested in applying for.

Applicants must successfully pass each phase of the process to be considered for employment.  Upon passing each step in the process, applicants will receive a written invitation to proceed to the next step.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office job postings can be found by visiting the Winnebago County Employment Opportunities page. For all positions, you must submit a Winnebago County Application for Employment through the Winnebago County Human Resources Department to be considered for the Sheriff's Office hiring process.

Patrol applicants that are invited to the physical agility screening must complete the Waiver of Liability and present it at the time of the Physical agility screening.

All candidates that are invited to attend a personal interview must complete three forms: an Authorization For Release of Personal InformationWaiver Authorizing Disclosure of Information and Releasing Liability, and the Personal History Form All three forms along with the supporting documentation should be presented at the time of the interview. They will not be accepted prior to a candidate being invited to a personal interview.

3.       Personality Screening

4.       Physical Agility Screening(for non certified patrol candidates only)  

 ·         Vertical Jump, 11.5 inches 

 ·         Push-ups, 18 continuous

 ·         Sit-ups, 24 in one minute 

 .         1.5 mile run in 20:20 minutes

5.       Background Investigation 

6.       Psychological Exam
