Community Support Program

Community Support Program (CSP) is a treatment program for persons with a severe and persistent mental illness. A range of treatment, rehabilitation and support services are provided through a team made up of a Psychiatrist, Advance Practice Nurse Prescriber, Social Worker, Professional Case Managers, and Mental Health Technicians. Winnebago County has two CSP Programs, one in Neenah and one in Oshkosh.

The purpose is to focus on recovery through  providing well rounded, community-based care in the least restrictive environment possible. Services include:

  • Psychiatric evaluation and assessment
  • Professional assistance with medication care and resources
  • Teaching skills that help people problem solve, deal with stress, understand their illness, and develop new ways to manage and cope with their illness.
  • Help with learning, maintaining, or improving positive life skills
  • Identifying work related interests or skills, help navigating employment resources, or help developing interests that could grow into possible employment.
  • Connections to community resources that allow consumers to live alone, travel in  the community successfully, and get necessary items like food, personal care items, etc

A typical appointment may involve seeing a CSP Professional in your home and reviewing your medication, identifying any needs or problems for the next week or two, and possible transportation into the community to obtain needed items.  CSP Staff always try to review their clients’ progress and work to insure a person is on the least amount of medication necessary.  Some persons may need additional supervision to access Crisis Services or other kinds of care.  CSP staff are highly trained to assess the need for these additional community resources.

Feel free to call our Oshkosh or Neenah offices to speak to someone about enrollment consideration.
