What can I do with latex paint?

Check with friends, neighbors, schools or non-profit groups to reuse good leftover paint.  To dispose of your paint: open up the cans and let them air dry until paint is hard; add cat litter, sand, oil dry or a paint hardener product (available at hardware stores) to speed up the process of the paint hardening; if there is a lot of paint you can pour it onto newspaper and let it dry (newspaper would become trash).

What can I do with old gasoline?

You can bring it to the Winnebago County Household Hazardous Material Facility on the select open days.  The gasoline needs to be brought in a container that you can leave on-site.  If it’s during the time-frame that the Household Hazardous Material Facility is closed you can take it to the Brown County Household Hazardous Waste Facility for no charge (920) 492-4950.

What do I do with old ammunition or explosives?  These items are not accepted at the Winnebago County Household Hazardous Material Facility.  Please call a local firearm retailer for disposal options.

Why is the Household Hazardous Material Facility not open year round?

The building that is utilized for this is not heated and that is why the facility closes November – February.

What can I do with Household Hazardous Material from November – April?
