Employment/Hiring Process

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office job postings and applications are available by visiting the Winnebago County Employment Opportunities page.

Correction and Patrol applicants must complete the Waiver of Liability for the Physical Fitness/Agility screening.

All applicants reaching the “background check” stage of the eligibility process must also complete the Authorization For Release of Personal Information and the Personal History Form.

WCSO often hires for several positions. In order to alleviate questions, the specific steps in the hiring process are detailed below. Please check back often as postings change frequently. If you have any questions regarding the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office hiring process, contact the Lieutenant of Professional Standards (Lt. Cianciolo) at 920-232-1913.

The exception to this is failure of the background check, psychological exam, or medical/drug screening.    Failure in any of these areas will prohibit the applicant from applying in the future.

Special note: The physical fitness test is pass/fail.  To be considered further, candidates must have passed both the written exam and physical fitness test.    A maximum number of 24 candidates will be invited to the first interview.  Invitations to the first interview will be given to those with the highest written exam score and a “pass” grade on the physical fitness test.
