COMMUNITY POLICING Community Policing is both a philosophy and
an organization strategy that promotes a partnership between the Sheriff's
Office and the community. It is based on the premise that both the
deputies and the community must work together to solve problems and improve
the overall quality of life. Community Policing promotes greater
interaction and empowers citizens to share in identifying and dealing with community
problems, including the prevention of crime.
TRIAD The local Triad consists of the Sheriff,
Police Chiefs and senior citizens in the community who agree to work together
to reduce criminal victimization of the elderly. Since early in 1996,
the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office has developed three Triads throughout
Winnebago County. There is one in the City of Oshkosh, one in the
Omro/Winneconne area and one in the Neenah/Menasha/Town of Menasha area, who
are all working to reduce criminal victimization of the elderly.

SENIOR CITIZENS POLICE
ACADEMY The Senior Citizen Police Academy is
sponsored each fall. The concept of the Senior Citizen Police Academy
was developed to familiarize the senior community with the organization and
operation of the police departments and sheriff's office in strengthening
community support and involvement with the law enforcement agencies.
CHAPLAIN'S PROGRAM The chaplains in the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office
Chaplain Program assist road officers and investigators in
dealing with sudden death, traffic fatalities, serious complaints, death
notification and many other duties given to them by our agency. We wish
to acknowledge the support and dedication these chaplains provide to our officers,
investigators and community.
