Prevention Services coordinates collaborative programming that decreases the likelihood of specific problems for the participants in the area of AODA, child abuse and neglect, etc. Programs include the Option Program, newParent and the Alliance for Families, Winnebago County Tobacco Control Coalition, TRICOM, the Menasha Community Asset Building group, Community for Hope Teen Suicide Prevention to name a few.
Services
Education
Option classes for Underage Drinking diversion from court. There are six, two-hour classes using the Prime for Live, under 21 curriculum. Classes are scheduled every 6 weeks. Juveniles (under 16 yrs.) are scheduled in Neenah and Oshkosh, alternatively. The adult classes (17-20 yrs.) are scheduled in Oshkosh.
Public Awareness
The Prevention Services Coordinator is involved in several projects and organizations that impact a variety of safety and health topics. TRICOM is a crime prevention organization that has a committee that deals with AODA prevention. The Winnebago County Tobacco-Free Coalition is interested in tobacco control issues. The Community for Hope of Greater Oshkosh is involved in implementing the Yellow Ribbon suicide prevention program and Survivors of Suicide groups. The Alliance for Families is interested in child and family health and well-being and parenting, including the newParent program. NewParent is a home visitation program for first time parents.
