Authorization for Payment of Hospitals
If a Winnebago County resident needs inpatient mental health services or medical detoxification services, but does not have insurance, the Crisis Team will authorize County payment for these services. Winnebago County will then bill the service recipient for all hospital costs incurred.
Consultation - Crisis
Crisis Team members consult with medical staff, law enforcement personnel, and citizens requesting information regarding mental health law and appropriate treatment options.
Crisis Intervention
Crisis Team staff will talk with people experiencing a mental health or AODA crisis either on a walk-in basis or at local hospitals and jail. After assessing the situation, they will offer appropriate support and will link people with services that will most likely resolve the crisis. Crisis Intervention staff also provides routine screening/intake for mental health consumers seeking counseling services.
Crisis Intervention/Helpline
Crisis Intervention/Helpline is our department’s 24-hour information, referral and brief counseling telephone service.
Referrals
When needs are identified that can not be met by our agency, consumers will be referred to the appropriate public or private resource to meet these needs.
Residential Supports
Many eligible persons require support in their home or residential setting to live successfully in their community. Individuals may require assistance planning or arranging for needed supports. Typically, supports are needed to assist persons with supportive home care, daily living skills, personal care and/or supervision. Some individuals require the assitance of home modifications, personal response systems, or adaptive aids. Individuals may continue to live in their own home, share an apartment with another(s), live in an adult family care home, community based residential facility, or a residential care apartment complex.
